TrendTrack is a good tool for the job it was built for: Shopify store and product research with a Meta ad library on top, refreshed daily. If your job is deciding which angle to test next, briefing it, and defending the choice, you are using a product-research tool for creative strategy, and there are better fits. Here are the five that come up, sorted by what they are for.
The short version
| Tool | Built for | Platforms | Entry price a month | Where it ends |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TrendTrack | Shopify sellers | Meta, TikTok, Shopify stores | $49 (ads library from $89) | A saved folder |
| Minea | Dropshippers | Meta, TikTok, Pinterest | $49 | A saved folder |
| AdSpy | Meta-heavy researchers | Meta, Instagram | $149 flat | A search result |
| Foreplay | Creative teams | Meta, TikTok | $59 ($175 for tracking) | A brief and a swipe file |
| Motion | Teams with ad-account data | Your own accounts | Reported from $750 | A creative report |
| MessCube | Creative strategists, agencies, B2B | Meta, Google, LinkedIn | Free, $39 market read | A brief and finished ads |
Minea: the closest sibling
Same audience as TrendTrack, a slightly different library. Minea covers Meta, TikTok and Pinterest with spend and engagement estimates, and sells at $49, $99 and $199 a month, with a free account that lets you browse before paying. The recurring complaint is its credit system, which runs out during long research sessions. Pick it over TrendTrack if Pinterest or TikTok matters more to you than Shopify store analytics. It still stops at research.
AdSpy: the biggest Meta database, one price
AdSpy indexes a very large Meta and Instagram archive with Boolean search and deep filters, and charges $149 a month with no lower tier and no trial. It is a search engine, not an analysis layer: it tells you an ad exists and how long it has been seen, and leaves everything else to you. Pick it if you run Meta-only research all day and want volume. Skip it if you need Google, LinkedIn, or anything that interprets.
Foreplay: the swipe file that became a workflow
Foreplay is the one on this list built for creative teams rather than sellers. Basic is $59 a month ($49 annual) for saving and organising ads and AI briefs; Workflow is $175 ($149 annual) and adds Spyder, which watches chosen competitors and surfaces their new ads with transcribed hooks, plus Lens, which reads your own Meta and TikTok accounts; Agency is $459. Seats are $20 each. Sources disagree on whether Basic includes any Spyder, so check.
It is a strong product for a Meta and TikTok creative team that wants a shared library and a brief generator. Its limits for a strategist: no Google, no LinkedIn, and the competitor read is per brand you name rather than a read of the whole market reaching your audience.
Motion: analytics on your own account
Motion is a different category. It connects to your ad accounts and reports on your own creative performance; it does not read competitors or public libraries. Reported pricing moved sharply in 2026, with recent sources citing a $750 a month starting tier, so treat the figure with care. Pick it if the question is "which of our ads is fatiguing", which is the question none of the library tools above can answer. It is not a TrendTrack alternative so much as the other half of the job.
MessCube: the market read that ends in an ad
Our own, so weigh accordingly. MessCube reads every ad reaching your audience on Meta, Google and LinkedIn, groups them by the angle they share, shows how long each has run with the basis of the number, reports a thin platform as a finding instead of padding it, and turns the angle you choose into a brief with its proof ads and then finished statics, carousels and reels. Free to start with 8 credits a month and a 15-ad preview per platform; the market read is $39 a month per workspace; tracking a page is $5 a month. There is no Shopify store layer and no email library, and the read does not touch your own account data yet.
Where it is measurably different: on a first answer a frontier model with the same library access matches it; on every answer after, the stored read is about 110 times cheaper and up to 90 times faster, and reproducible. That is the published result, with the cells we lost.
Which to pick
- You sell on Shopify and want products, stores and ads in one place: stay with TrendTrack, or Minea if TikTok and Pinterest matter more.
- You live in Meta and want the largest archive to search: AdSpy.
- You run a Meta and TikTok creative team and want a shared swipe file with briefs: Foreplay.
- You need to know which of your own ads is dying: Motion, or wait for a library tool to add first-party data.
- You brief creative across Meta, Google and LinkedIn and want the read, the brief and the ad from one place: MessCube. Start free.
The honest summary is that these are three different jobs, product research, creative search, and creative strategy, and most teams need one tool from one of the first two columns and one from the third.
